3rd - 5th January - Stretch Fabrics!!

This week we were learning about stretch fabrics and how you sew with them. We started off by experimenting different sewing lengths and different types of stitches that would work with the fabric. I found this really interesting as I have wanted to move on and develop my skills by learning how to sew with different fabrics. In the future I would really like to work with denim as this is a much stronger thicker fabric than what I have used previously.

Moving on in my pattern crazy project I was still producing more primary research and drawings to gather as much information as possible to help me create experiments in the future.

Once I had done this I then experimented with ink and bleach and drew everyone's eyes in the ink. I really enjoyed the outcome of these and the paintbrush allowed me to be more free and flowy with my line markings which makes the pieces really detailed and interesting.

Next week we are moving on to creating our own legging patterns to create a pair of leggings to then show with our white shirts in the fashion show. We are also going to start doing some experiments using our primary research as a base in textiles!
