25-29th march - social media and research 🇩🇪

This week was very short as we had Friday off as it was Easter and so I was mainly focusing of finishing up my research for this project and so I could starting annotating over Easter. My plan for Easter was to also start visiting museums and shops relating to my project but also to gather primary research and start creating experimental drawings.

As I said earlier I was just finishing up gathering my research this week, looking into Gaelic and the German language as I thought this was quite a big significance within my heritage and me growing up with family members speaking German on a daily basis. I also looked into how they are different form each other but also different when compared to the English language.

Another research element I looked into was embroidery. I looked into this as this was a significant thing I saw within my research into ledehosens and Dirndls was that every single one had embroidery (besides work wear). Through researching into embroidery I learnt that the embroidery on your garments can be identified by others and can be a sign of what region you are from in Germany.

I would really like to somehow add this into my final major project. During my experiments I'd like to try out free motion embroidery but also hand embroidery which is the traditional German way of adding detail.

During doing this research I was also updating social media as this is something I would like to become more active on specifically my Instagram and TikTok.

On both of these platforms I made a styling series where I style outfits for specific occasions or using trending products/styles. I posted the first one this week and it seemed to be a big hit! Especially on my TikTok, so ill be carrying this series on.

I also have made a threads account through my Instagram account to connect with different creatives.

To change up my Instagram I also created a link tree to make my bio look more professional and I also changed my highlight cover photos to switch up the look of my page a bit. I think this has made my account look a lot more professional and interesting.
